***NEW Beginners Classes***
We are introducing 2 new Beginners classes to our Recreational program after the Easter Holidays

We are delighted to inform you that after Easter we are creating 3 new beginners’ classes on a Wednesday evening at Lord Williams’s Lower School, Thame.

Beginners Classes

Beginner’s Class for 5 – 8 year olds (approx).  This session is 60 mins and will take place from  4 – 5pm.   Fees are 7 per session, payable in full at the start of the term.

Beginner’s Class for 9 – 12+ years .  This session is 60 mins and will take place from  4 – 5pm.   Fees are 7 per session payable in full at the start of the term.

Should you be interested in booking a place in one of these new classes please let us know as soon as possible as I am sure the places will fill up quickly.  We have approx 20 places in each of the classes.

Please contact us directly at oxfordschoolofgymnastics@googlemail.com requesting the Wednesday Classes.

Recreational Classes

Attending your first class

When you first join one of our recreational classes children should dress in appropriate sports clothing (t-shirt, leggins, shorts) unless they already own a leotard which they should wear to their class.  All children work in bare feet.  All jewelry should be removed, including earings and bracelets of any kind.  After a couple of weeks we expect the children to be in the correct uniform; which for girls is a blue club leotard and for boys a black leotard and blue shorts (these are available directly from us; please ask).  Children may wear leggins or shorts over the top of their leotard if they wish.

Please arrive changed for your session as we do not have changing facilities available
At no time should you change in the school reception area; the school is a working environment and we have been requested by the school to tell all our members not to use the reception area as a changing facility - there is a toilet available if you do need to change as a one-off, but we request that all children arrived changed, ready for their session.

Children should bring a drink of water with them to the session.
All children should be dropped off and picked up directly by yourselves.  They are not permitted to leave the gym without seeing a parent/friend who they know is taking them home.  Please come to the door to collect them personally.  If for any reason the named parent/guardian is not going to be collecting you must inform the coach at the start of the session.  Please also ensure that your child knows who they are going home with.
Unfortunately we do not have space in the hall for you to stay and watch during the sessions, you can however watch through the window in the door.
If you do have other children with you please keep them under control in the school reception area. Please do not let them run around, stand on the seats etc.

We have 4 levels of classes which will cater for all ages and abilities.

'Young beginners' classes which is especially for 4-6 yr old beginners, this is a shorter 45 minute session.

'Beginners' session 6+ yrs 60 minute session suitable for slightly older beginners or for those with some basic experience who are not yet ready to move to intermediate level work.

Intermediate for those who have achieved at least badge 4.

Advanced for those who have achieved badge 1 or are working towards this level of skill.

If you are unsure please speak to us and we can advise which class we feel will be most suitable.

Fees are charged per hour and are payable in full for a term.  1 hour classes are 7 and the 45 minute session is 6 per class.  There is also a one -off mandatory 17 insurance to pay.  This is payable in September or on first joining the club.  The insurance runs from Sept – August and is the same price regardless of when a member joins in the year.  The 17 goes to British Gymnastics and all gymnasts should receive a membership pack from BG.

All our classes focus on developing a basic level of fitness as well as teaching body awareness through gymnastic activities. All classes follow a similar format and incorporate simple acrobatic gymnastics as well as teaching individual gymnastic skills. Gymnasts can choose to take part in two sessions per week if they wish.

We try not to run classes during the school holidays but sometimes to make up for lost sessions we need to do so. Our recreational gymnastic terms begin in September, January and April and generally coincide with the school breaks.

We usually begin enrolment for new members 3-4 weeks before the start of the new term.  For existing members, places need to be reserved 2-3 weeks ahead of the new term.  If you are on our waiting list we will contact you when spaces become available, alternatively you can contact us.

If you would like to join one of our gymnastics classes and become a member of Oxford School of Gymnastics, please complete one of our on-line application forms.  You will be automatically added to our waiting list and you will be contacted when a place becomes available.  Click on the link below to take you to the application form.  Please add as much information as possible as this really helps us to place you in the appropriate classes.
