Recreational Classes
Click here to go to our list of recreational class dates: April - July 2013
We have 3 levels of classes which will cater for all ages
and abilities. Please see the
descriptions below and use this to help you when selecting which class to
join. If you are unsure please speak to
us and we can advise which class we feel will be most suitable.
Fees are charged per hour and are payable in full for a
term. 1 hour classes are £7 and the 45 minute
session is £6 per class. There is also a
one -off mandatory £16 insurance to pay.
This is payable in September or on first joining the club. The insurance runs from Sept – August and is
the same price regardless of when a member joins in the year. The £16 goes to British Gymnastics and all
gymnasts should receive a membership pack from BG within 3 months of joining
our club.
Attending your first classWhen you first join one of our recreational classes children should
dress in appropriate sports clothing (t-shirt, leggins, shorts) unless they already own a leotard which they are encouraged
to wear. Please arrive changed for your session as we do not have changing facilities available. At no time should
you change in the school reception area-there is a toilet if you do need to change as a one-off. After a couple
of weeks we expect the children to be in the correct uniform; which for girls is a blue club leotard and for boys a black
leotard and blue shorts (these are available directly from us; please ask). Children may wear leggins or shorts over
the top of their leotard if they wish. Children should bring a drink of water with them to the session. All
children should be dropped off and picked up directly by yourselves. They are not permitted to leave the gym without
seeing a parent/friend who they know is taking them home. Please come to the door to collect them. Unfortunately
we do not have space in the hall for you to stay and watch during the sessions, you can however watch through the window in
the door.

All our classes focus on developing a basic level of fitness as well
as teaching body awareness through gymnastic activities. All classes follow a similar format and incorporate simple acrobatic
gymnastics as well as teaching individual gymnastic skills. Gymnasts can choose to take part in two sessions per week if they
wish.
We try not to run classes during the school holidays but sometimes to make up for lost sessions we need to do so. Our
recreational gymnastic terms begin in September, January and April and generally coincide with the school breaks.
We usually begin enrolment for new members 3-4 weeks before the start of the new term. For existing members,
places need to be reserved 2-3 weeks ahead of the new term. If you are on our waiting list we will contact you when
spaces become available, alternatively you can contact us.
If you would like to join one of our gymnastics classes and become a member of
Oxford School of Gymnastics, please complete one of our on-line application forms. You will be automatically added to
our waiting list and you will be contacted when a place becomes available. Click on the link below to take you to the
application form. Please add as much information as possible as this really helps us to place you in the appropriate
classes.
